Around my town: giving directions
Para pedir indicaciones se usa una fórmula educada: *Excuse me, where is the library?* o *How do I get to the station, please?*
Para dar indicaciones usamos el imperativo (el verbo en forma base, sin persona): *Go straight on* (sigue recto), *Turn left / right* (gira a la izquierda / derecha), *Take the first / second street on the left* (coge la primera / segunda calle a la izquierda), *Cross the road* (cruza la calle).
Terminamos diciendo dónde está el lugar: *It’s on your right*, *It’s next to the bank*.
Idea clave: Pedir: Excuse me, where is…? Dar: Go straight on, turn left / right, take the second street… It’s next to / opposite…
- Paso 1 Una turista pregunta: *Excuse me, where is the library?*
- Paso 2 Primero sigue recto: *Go straight on*.
- Paso 3 Luego coge la segunda calle a la derecha: *Take the second street on the right*.
- Paso 4 Después cruza la calle: *Cross the road*.
- Paso 5 Digo dónde está: *The library is opposite the park, next to the bakery*.
Resultado: Go straight on and take the second street on the right. Cross the road. The library is opposite the park, next to the bakery.
